Travel to the “Town of Seven Railroads” for a Dining Experience You Won’t Soon Forget

Dubbed one of the “most unique dining spots in Massachusetts,” the Steaming Tender restaurant is located in the Palmer Railroad Station. When the Palmer Railroad Station was built in the 19th century, it was the 5th largest station in the United States.

Train enthusiasts travel from across the globe to experience the beauty of the Palmer Railroad Station and watch the trains go by. Fully immerse yourself in the history atmosphere as you enjoy a delicious meal of traditional Americana cuisine.

Many famous individuals have gone through Palmer on the Albany and Boston trains, including Teddy Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln. The railroad was the most popular at the beginning of the 1900s—around 30 to 40 trains would stop each day at the Palmer station.

The History of the Steaming Tender Restaurant

The historic Palmer Railroad Station was purchased by Blake and Robin Lamothe in 1987. They spent years restoring the building to its former glory as part of a community effort to bring more business to Palmer, Massachusetts.

Families can tour the grounds surrounding the restaurant, watch the trains, and experience the onsite museum. The open-air museum features vintage transportation, including an 1890 Wells Fargo hotel-style Stagecoach.
